Dear Glenbrae Community.
I am a Female...Lorraine Mokomoko
Aged 12 year 8

In room 7 the year 8’s are trying their hardest to fund raise for the year 8 graduation.
The year 8’s are holding a sausage sizzle. The year 8’s are also cleaning the Glenbrae reserve + creek on Tuesday 6th. We are really hoping our community will sponsor the year 8’s at Glenbrae School. Why we want our community to sponsor us is? Because the year 8’s will be having year 8’s graduation and so we are trying our hardest to get year 8’s t-shirts with a name on the back. We will be helping by cleaning up the community
Creek
Sincerely: Lorraine

Kiwican

This week on Thursday at Kiwi can our topic was Respect for our school.
We learnt Respect. In respect is respecting our school property and treat people the way you would like to be treated.

Today at kiwi can we did a roll play but the teachers split us into 5 groups I was inn  group 2. In our group was Maara Leo Alfred Chris Linda and me. Our word that we had to act out was courage. For courage Chris Linda and Leo was running in a race and Maara and Alfred was Cheering for them. I was standing at the finish line cheering for the people who were running. When we had finished practising what we were going to act out we had to go in side and act it out to our class. the first group to go up was my group. The last one was group 1. I had fun.

Recount about school holidays

This School Holidays
This school holidays my family and I came together for my mum's funeral.
When my family and I found out that she had passed we felt disgusted because she did not live for that long. Before all of that happened my sister and I visited her in the Mercy Hospice. She felt and looked very sick. She gave me a book called  Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. It was an interesting adventure to read. My sister and I went home to have some dinner. By the time we had finished eating a nurse rang up and told us that our mum did not make it. She had past away.

My family and I packed our gear and travelled up north to Matauri Bay. It took about three hours to get there. My family and I were all crying in the car. By the time we got there we all had stopped crying. We drove to the marae in Matauri bay and said hello to our family and friends. They looked disgusted

And we got welcomed to our marae. We saw that everyone was crying. A lady pulled out two leaves and two other ladies were singing haere mai to welcome us on.
When I saw my mum dressed in a nice black dress and lying in her coffin she looked pale but beautiful. When I touched her she was hard and cold just like a rock. Some people were singing to her and kissing her on the cheek . As they were closing her lid I started crying while everyone else was singing. When they were carrying her out some people were doing the haka on the grass.

When most of the people went to bury her up the mountain where my nana was buried there was a little graveyard where our family is  buried.

When we got home I started having nightmares every time I go to bed and I am always crying. Softly so no one can hear me. Everytime I cry I always think she is there with me hugging me. And when I always think my mum is there with me i am always talking to her saying how hard it is without her and wanting her to come back to life. Because someone told me when someone dies they turn into dust and then in a few years she is back to a baby again but I don’t think that Is true.

Lorraine Auckland Live

Yesterday at Auckland Live a lady came out of nowhere dressed like the olden days. She was wearing a long brown and dark brown dress, it was nice. She came to show us around the whole backstage scenes and the lighting. That was fun. Then she told us a bit about herself. Their were a few other schools. There as well they were younger ones then us. They were year 5’s and 6’s. We all splitted into groups like a school mixed with a couple of other students from another school. There were 5 different subjects that we got to learn about.

{1} There was a lady and she talking about what she doe’s for her job. And her job was the lighting on the stage. We got to have a turn. We were shining the light on the other group who was ahead of us and on the next activity. That was funny.

{2} There were 2 men and they were to backstage men who are in charge of the 90 something ropes. They were talking about their job. And what it’s like to make a mistake.

{3} There were 2 ladies and their job was to run around putting fake blood on the costumes trying to make them stand out. She showed us blood bags made out of glad wrap. She even told us the recipe but sorry i'm not allowed to tell you it’s a secret.

{4} There was a lady. She was the costume maker and dresser. She pulled some people out to dress other people.

{5} There was a lady and she is the one who makes the wigs for the actors. It was fun for me.

. Picks metal up
. Compatible
. Black/Grey
. Magnetic force
. paper, plastic, brass

Mrs R. Moopanar told us what the magnets are called
. Bar magnet
.U shape magnet- horse shoe
. Donut magnet
. Natural gravity
. man made magnet
. lodestone rock
. north/south

Thank you Mrs R. Moopanar for teaching me about magnets and what magnets are for and what magnets can pick up. I learnt the many different names of the magnets because i never knew any of the names until now.

Science Fun.

Science Fun

Today me and my class, room 7's teacher Mrs Tofa split our class in half into group 1 and 2. The teacher in group 1 was Miss Stone and the group 2 teacher was Mrs Tofa. Mrs Stone was in room 3 and Mrs Tofa was in room 7. I was in room 7 with Mrs Tofa. We were learning about Isaac Newton's role. There were 3 laws from Isaac Newton.

Mrs Tofa told us girls and boys to get into groups. So we did the girls got into 1 group and the boys got into a group. We talked about Isaac Newton. Isaac Newton was recognised to be one of the greatest influential scientist of all time. Mrs Tofa gave us 3 of the laws. 1 was and we had to read them all 1 at a time. The girls read law 1 first, law 2, law 3. Law 1 law is about inertia. An object will remain unless acted by an unbalanced force. an object in motion will

Amaintain this state of motion. Law 2 of motion. Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. The greater the amount of force needed {to accelerate the object. Heavier objects require more force to move the same distance as lighter objects. Law 3 of motion. For every action there is opposite reaction. An object pushes another object it gets pushed back in the opposite direction equally hard.
